Research
I have always been fascinated by the mechanisms of living things at the cellular and molecular level. To satisfy this curiosity, my lab investigates molecular mechanisms of viruses. We focus on plant viruses for three reasons: (1) to contribute to maintenance of a healthy and sustainable food supply around the world, (2) they are valuable models to help us understand the mechanisms of medically important viruses, and (3) they serve well as probes to understand the inner workings of the cell, in particular the process of protein synthesis, in which the genetic code is translated from RNA sequence into functional protein.
